N is for: Natural Balance Cat Food

I didn’t choose Mays, Mays chose me.

For those of you who have had the pleasure of meeting my mischievous orange cat, you’re not surprised to hear this. I was at the SF SPCA looking at kittens, when this tiny little orange ball of fur with wild green eyes started mewing. I opened the cage and he crawled immediately into my arms and stuck his nose right in my face.

Like I said, Mays chose me.

But he can’t choose his food. He relies on me for that. When I first brought him home that day, he was still eating the food given to him at the humane society. I knew I needed to transition him to a higher quality product, but I just wasn’t sure what. The first thing I chose did NOT sit well with him. Poor little thing. New home, new owner, and he couldn’t go to the bathroom properly.

I was desperate for something to help get him regular. I did so much research and eventually settled on Natural Balance®.

I like that Natural Balance offers a wide variety of grain free products, high protein products, and limited ingredient options. But what really caught my eye: they believe pet food should use premium ingredients. Chicken and green peas? That’s something *I* would eat. Lamb? Venison? Salmon and rabbit treats? So fancy! Instead of stuffing their food full of corn and other fillers, they create delicious concoctions your cat will love. Not only did Mays love it, but it immediately started getting him more regular. I was sold. Five years later, and I haven’t looked back.

That’s mid-chew on his favorite: the salmon bites

But not only does Natural Balance offer super high quality ingredients, they are also safe ingredients. They test every batch of food in their state of the art labs. And if you have any doubts, you can look at the tests completed on your product directly on their website. And if you’re still not sure, they offer a Buy With Confidence® promise, so you literally have nothing to lose! Natural Balance stands out in an industry full of food recalls and issues. You would think paying more for a product means it is higher quality but that isn’t a guarantee in today’s world. That is why Natural Balance goes the extra mile to test all of their products for safety. They really care about your pet’s health and happiness above anything else!

Always hard to get a selfie with a moving target!

Since I write about food so much here, I thought it was important to share with you what food I’m also feeding my cat. Do you have pets? If so, tell me a little about them in the comments section and what they like to eat. You will have a chance to win a $100 Visa giftcard!

Cheese, sour cream, pumpkin puree (that was an accident :/ green beans, corn, oatmeal. Seriously, anything. However, we recently bought a home, and since then his eating has been more erratic, and like Mays, is having some irregularity issues and runny butt. I need to find something that can help calm him down. If I win, Reggie will be trying out some Natural Balance!

We have a "scruffer dog" (terrier mix). One day we went to the pet store to get food for our other dog, and out in front were some people from a rescue organization with animals for adoption. They bring them from rural shelters where they have little hope for adoption, into areas where more people have a chance to see them. We were NOT looking for a new dog, and especially not a puppy, but there she was in all her 4 month old adorableness, and once we asked to hold her, we never put her down! She brings us joy every day. Oh…and she likes to eat chicken and scrambled eggs.
